At our society meetings you can see beautiful orchids on display that have been grown by our members with loving care over years and sometimes even decades. Our regular plant discussions provide you with a lot of background information about the natural habitat and care of orchid species as well as hybrids. We offer regular meetings at 2 different locations in Vienna (Floridsdorf & Meidling). Curious? Visit us at one of our meetings, guests are more than welcome!
Our plant contest
At each meeting our members have the possibility to rate orchids grown by other members for their beauty and condition. Members collect “points” over an entire year and compete for different prices. Being part of the competition already pays off – as a little thank you every member gets a free ticket for our annual orchid raffle at our spring festival. Maybe you reach one of the first 3 places? Than you get to choose your new orchid directly!
How does it work?
You register your plants shortly before each meeting by one of the responsible persons. Each member gets 5 chips and is allowed to distribute them at the orchids of the contest. The orchid with the most chips wins the “champion of the day”. After the contest we discuss some of the plants together giving background information on the natural habitat as well as tips for successful care from the experts and owners.
